Jalosuo and Finland will compete for bronze

Five Olympians from Team USA were teammates last year with the Whitecaps, and they will be facing Team Canada on February 21 at 10:10 pm CST, for the right to bring home gold medals from PyeongChang, South Korea.

Sisters Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando are competing in their third Olympics, after earning silver medals in 2010 and 2014. Goaltender Alex Rigsby and forward Hannah Brandt are making their Olympic debuts in PyeongChang.

The Americans won their first two preliminary games, beating Finland 3-1 and the Olympic Athletes from Russia 5-0, before dropping their final preliminary game to Canada 2-1. So, the U.S. finished as the second seed in Group A. They again faced Finland in the semifinals, winning 5-0 to move into the gold medal game.

Mira Jalosuo, another Whitecap, is in her second Olympic Games as a member of Team Finland. After her team's opening loss to the Americans 3-1, they fell to Canada 4-1, before defeating the Olympic Athletes from Russia 5-1. In the quarterfinals, Finland faced Sweden and beat them soundly 7-2. The Americans were too much for the Finns in the semifinals, so they will now face Russia once again with a bronze medal on the line. That game will also be on February 21, with the puck dropping at 1:40 am CST.
