August 8, 2018– The Minnesota Whitecaps have signed their versatile veteran forward/defender and former St. Cloud State standout Meaghan Pezon to a contract for the club’s first season in the National Women’s Hockey League.
“I’m unbelievably honored and incredibly excited to be back playing for the Minnesota Whitecaps in their inaugural season in the NWHL,” said Pezon, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn. “Having been a part of the Whitecaps organization in the past and seeing all the organization has done to get to this point, the day the NWHL announcement was made was a special day. I want to thank everyone involved with the NWHL for this opportunity, as well as the countless people within the Whitecaps organization who have been there since day one to make this opportunity happen. These have been special times that I will cherish forever, and I am excited to share these moments with all the little girls that share this same dream!”
Pezon has been a member of the Whitecaps since finishing her collegiate career at St. Cloud State in 2010. In her senior season, she scored 12 goals and added 26 assists for 38 points in 37 games. Over 137 games over four years at St. Cloud, she was 41-54-95. At Eden Prairie High School as a senior in 2006, she helped lead the school to a 31-0 record and the Minnesota Class AA State Tournament championship.
